JBS Instruments is now AquaCalc LLC!

JBS Instruments is now a division of AquaCalc LLC and continues to manufacture the AquaCalc stream flow computer, a portable electronic device that automates the measurement of water flow in streams and rivers and canals, also know as open channel discharge measurements. The AquaCalc is used with mechanical current meters such as the Price AA meter and the Pygmy current meters manufactured by the Rickly Hydrological Company.

After over 30 years of business, the economics arm of JBS Energy, Inc. is being dissolved and the JBS Instruments division becomes its own company: AquaCalc LLC.

JBS Energy, Inc. has closed its office in West Sacramento and is dissolving.  It will continue to meet its obligations on existing projects but has taken no new work after November, 2016.  In the longer term, William Marcus will continue to serve clients on utility issues through the new firm MCPM Economics; Jim Helmich is retiring, and JBS Energy’s other former employees will be finishing old projects on a contract basis and seeking new opportunities. is a Limited Liability Company formed in Ohio and a partnership between JBS Instruments, designers and manufacturers of the AquaCalc for over 25 years, and the Rickly Hydrological Company, the leader in hydrological equipment manufacture and distribution.


This partnership formalizes a relationship that spans decades of mutual collaboration, and anticipates the future of hydrological current meter technology.
